JotBunker is built on a simple principle: your data stays on your devices.

What we collect

Nothing from the app itself. JotBunker does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data, usage data, analytics, or telemetry. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no cloud services.

The one exception is our beta testing programs, described below.

Beta testing (Google Play and Apple TestFlight)

To distribute pre-release builds of JotBunker on Android and iOS, we run closed/external beta tests through Google Play Console and Apple TestFlight. Users who volunteer to beta test give us an email address so we can add them to the tester list in the relevant platform's console.

• What we collect: Your email address only. For Google Play, this must be the email your Android phone uses to log in to the Play Store. For Apple TestFlight, this must be the email you use to log in to the App Store.
• Legal basis: Your consent, given when you submit your email to join the test.
• Where it's stored: In Google Play Console's tester list (managed by Google under their privacy policy) and/or Apple's App Store Connect / TestFlight system (managed by Apple under their privacy policy), plus temporarily in our own records while the test is active.
• How we use it: Solely to whitelist you as a tester. We do not use it for marketing, newsletters, analytics, or any other purpose, and we do not share it with anyone else.
• Retention: We remove your email from our records once the beta concludes or when you ask us to, whichever is sooner. Tester data held by Google and Apple is governed by their own retention policies.
• Opting out: You can leave the test at any time — on Android via the Google Play opt-out link, on iOS by removing the build from the TestFlight app — or email us at the contact address below to have your email removed from our records.

For TestFlight testers, Apple automatically provides us with aggregate testing metrics (session counts, crash reports, device model, and iOS version) as part of the TestFlight service. We use this only to diagnose issues in the beta build.

How sync works

JotBunker syncs between your phone and your computer over your local Wi-Fi network. All sync traffic is encrypted end-to-end using NaCl (X25519 key exchange + secretbox). No data is sent to any external server. No data leaves your network.

Software updates

The computer app checks jotbunker.com for software updates. No personal data is sent with this request. This check can be disabled in settings.

Third-party services

JotBunker does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

App Store data

When you download JotBunker from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, those platforms may collect their own data according to their respective privacy policies. JotBunker has no access to or control over that data.

Children's privacy

JotBunker is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at jotbunker.com/privacy.
